Ep. 16 - Orange Is The New Black: Season 1

April 16, 2017

Since Brod was allowed to gush about Avatar for 3 episodes, it's only fair that Damask get to chose the first show from our 'Recommend' category. In doing so, she has treated Brod to one of her favourite shows (which he has tragically not watched before), the Netflix original series ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK. Based on the memoirs of a true-life ex-inmate, ORANGE begins as Piper Chapman enters into Litchfield Penitentiary, a minimum security womens prison, where she will serve out a 15 month sentence for helping her former lover smuggle drugs and money. Centred around a diverse ensemble of female characters, OITNB is a landmark television show deserving of exhaustive discussion. Talking lots never seems to be a problem for our hosts, but will Brod love it the same way Damask does?

Ep. 15 - Louie: Season 1

April 9, 2017

Though the shame of quitting Twin Peaks still hangs over us, Hunting Seasons presses-on to the next item on the 'Must Watch' list: LOUIE. Created, written, directed and starring prolific stand up comic Louis C.K., Louie is a series of semi-autobiographical short stories (almost skits) about the divorced middle-aged lead living in New York City and trying to make his comedy career work whilst also raising two daughters. Often hilarious, occasionally depressing and always clever, Louie makes it onto the Hunting Season's 'Must Watch' list as a modern classic, paving the way for other confronting and awkward comedies that seem to plague the TV landscape today. Can a show with such high praise live up to expectations? Listen and hind out!

Ep. 14 - Atlanta: Season 1

April 2, 2017

We are back and rising from the ashes of whatever that was last week. This episode Hunting Seasons travels back to the now to discuss the latest project from the unendingly talented Donald Glover. 'Atlanta' is an american TV series exploring the lives of Earn and 'Paper Boi', a pair of African-American cousins trying to make it big in the rap scene. With a setting and topics like these, Brod and Damask couldn't be less qualified to talk about it. Yet they have. Tune in to see just how many times they can manage to firmly plant their feet in their own mouths.

Ep. 13 - Twin Peaks: Season 1 (GUEST: Loren de Jong)

March 26, 2017

Breaking Bad is done and dusted, so it's finally time to jump into a new show from our 'Must Watch' category. This week Brod, Damask and special guest Loren de Jong head to the sleepy little town of Twin Peaks, where trees are majestic, the people are mysterious, and the coffee is damn fine. With a new season arriving soon, what will our host make of this 25 year old cult classic? Will they be drawn in by it's oddball charm and cast of eccentric characters, or will they be driven slowly insane and plagued with visions of red curtains and little people talking backwards?

Probably the latter.

Ep. 12 - Westworld: Season 1

March 19, 2017

Hunting Seasons isn't just about old shows! It's about the new, shiny hotness too!

This week Damask and Brod take on the first show in their 'Currently Airing' category, the reasonably new (ie: started last year) hit HBO show Westworld! Set in a futuristic wild west theme park full of alcohol, violence, adventure and a whole lot of mechrophilia, Westoworld tells the story of...actually, lets not say too much. If you don't know already you might actually be in the best position to experience this show. But can a show that is all about it's mysteries survive past it's reveals, or is it good enough that even those cursed with spoilers will still enjoy it?

Ep. 11 - Breaking Bad Season 5: Part 2 (GUEST: Liam Gordes from the Catching Up Podcast)

March 12, 2017

Defying all odds, Brod and Damask have made it through the complete series of Breaking Bad. Joining them for this momentous podcast is Brod's little brother Liam, who is pretty much the main reason they decided to watch and discuss this show first. With only 8 episodes left can Breaking Bad stick the landing and end on a high, or have the writers jazz-written themselves into a corner with no satisfying escape? And finally, is Breaking Bad really worthy of it's place amongst the greatest shows ever made?

Ep. 09 - Breaking Bad: Season 5 - Part 1

February 26, 2017

Lets just be upfront about it, Damask and Brod did not like the ending of Breaking Bad Season 4. With one season (slash two half seasons) to go, can Vince Gilligan and his writers get our hosts back on board before the impending finale? With Gus Fring out of the picture, a power vacuum has been left in his wake, and Walter White thinks he is just the one to fill it. He can't do it alone, but after all the chaos of recent times, will Jessie and Mike play their part in building the Heisenberg meth empire?

Ep. 07 - Breaking Bad: Season Four

February 12, 2017

Brod and Damask are officially past the half-way mark of Breaking Bad! Jessie and Walt have done the unthinkable to buy themselves some time, but they need a long-term plan if they are to survive the drug lord Gus Fring. Season 3 provided fantastic storytelling and a tantalising cliffhanger, but was the fourth season able to take full advantage of this momentum and satisfy our hosts ravenous hunger for compelling narrative and execution? Listen now to find out!
